Our Mission
Far + Wise provides academic support and experiential education for students from early elementary through high school and beyond, and by removing financial and other barriers, ensures that all students can achieve their life, education, and career goals.
Go Far, Go Wise
We envision a world in which all children are empowered to design and forge their own future.
Our work is founded on the belief that given equitable access to resources every young person can realize their innate potential and achieve their dreams.
What We Do
Far + Wise removes financial barriers to provide academic support, life skills learning, and enrichment programming to qualifying youth. The program spans first grade to first job and guarantees tuition assistance for continuing, post-secondary education.
Why We Do It
We believe potential should not be constrained by lack of resources. We know that given access to tools and opportunities, all children can succeed academically, thrive socially, achieve their life goals and become leaders and contributing members of our community and the larger world.
Who We Serve
We support students from families who demonstrate financial need and make a commitment to work with us to support their child’s academic success.
We are growing. Our programs support hundreds of students in our core academic and enrichment programs, camps and workshops and partnership programs.
How We Do It
We take an individualized approach to working with our students. Our Far + Wise teachers meet each student where they are so we can provide the most appropriate academic support. With the expertise of literacy and math specialists and certified tutors, a child development specialist, and dedicated volunteers, Far+Wise facilitates academic, life skills and social learning through play, art and project-based experiences. Our programs include tutoring, mentorship and enrichment programming, life skills learning, and community service. We work closely with the families of our students including family educational and social events and collaborative service opportunities.
What Are the Costs of Inaction
Students who do not finish high school earn significantly less income over their lifetimes. The economic costs nationally—including lost wages, taxes, and productivity—is billions of dollars each year.
Why Here
52% of Blaine County residents are a paycheck away from being unable to pay essential bills. Under-resourced students can face many stressors and adverse circumstances that put them at risk of falling behind and staying behind. We are committed to providing resources to ensure all our students have the chance to thrive and succeed.
Educational Success
With year-round, 360-degree support from the beginning, our students stay on track to remain in school, graduate from high school and pursue their post-secondary education and career goals. They successfully transition to adulthood, competitive with their economically advantaged peers. 100% of our first class of high school students, graduated in June 2022 (45 core program students and 10 of our leadership students). Most went on to post-secondary education (college, university, trade, professional school or military) and others went straight to work. All are productively engaged in the world.
Our goal is 100% graduation for all our students.
